Runyan Participates in Toys for Tots Delivery
Washington, D.C. – On Monday December 3, 2012 Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) joined the Blue Angels and hundreds of volunteers to pack and load toys for children displaced by Hurricane Sandy. The event, which was sponsored by Toys for Tots, saw more than $700,000 worth of toys and books donated by corporate sponsors and local volunteers.
“It is a true honor to participate in this event,” said Congressman Runyan. “Toys for Tots is a fantastic organization that is doing so much for the children affected by Hurricane Sandy. Today’s event shows that during a tragedy Americans are able to put all their differences aside and come together to help their neighbors and communities. I want to thank the Blue Angels for turning one of their planes into a de-facto sleigh for Santa. I would also like to thank Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for providing a place to organize and distribute the toys to the children of New Jersey and New York.”
More than 1,000 toys were packed and loaded into the Blue Angel’s C-130 known as “Fat Albert.” The toys are currently en route to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst where the toys will be organized and distributed across New Jersey and New York.
