Runyan Hosts Veterans Expo in Willingboro
Washington, D.C. – On Thursday August 16th, Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) hosted a Veterans Expo at the Willingboro Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4914. The expo allowed veterans in the surrounding area the opportunity to speak with representatives from many different government agencies.
“This expo in Willingboro was a huge success,” said Congressman Runyan. “I was surprised by the large number of attendees and was even more pleased to see that so many were able to speak with representatives from the federal, state and local veterans agencies that attended. It was great seeing many different generations of warfighters and all the branches of the military represented. Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed so much, that it is a true honor that I am able to help them in any way that I am able. I would also like to personally thank the Willingboro VFW for opening their doors and working with my office to ensure the event was a success.”
Federal, State and local veteran agencies attended the event including the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Regional Office, the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and the Burlington County Department of Veterans Affairs. The representatives from the agencies were able to answer questions about disability claims and start to resolve any problems the veterans had. The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development also had representatives present to help unemployed veterans with job placement.
Congressman Runyan is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, House Veterans Affairs Committee, and the Natural Resources Committee. He also serves as the Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs. This is the 5th Veterans Expo that Congressman Runyan has convened since taking office in January 2011.
