Runyan Hosts Senior Health and Wellness Fair

Aug 15, 2012

Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday August 15th, Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) hosted a senior health and wellness fair in Burlington County.  The fair was attended by a large number of senior citizens and their families.  The health and wellness fair allowed all those in attendance a great opportunity to speak to government agency representatives and healthcare providers.

“I was pleased so many senior citizens were able to take advantage of all that was offered at the senior health and wellness fair,” said Congressman Runyan.  “I was able to speak with many of the attendees and help ensure that any problem they had was addressed by the appropriate person.  All of the agency representatives appeared to be busy all night answering questions and helping every senior they could.  And the local hospital that attended provided many great health screenings.  Events like these are one of the reasons why I enjoy representing New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District.  I look forward to my next senior health and wellness fair in Ocean County later this month and many more throughout the district in the coming months.”

Attending hospitals included Virtua Health Systems, Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Lourdes Medical Center, and Cooper University Hospital.  They all offered a variety of health screenings including blood pressure, pulse, body mass index, and bone density.  All of these services were provided free of charge to the attendees.

Also on hand were the Social Security Administration and the Burlington Department of Aging.  These organizations were able to answer questions that the seniors and their families.  The local and federal agency representatives were also able to help the attendees with any problems and ensure they will be resolved quickly.

This is the 3rd Senior Health and Wellness Fair that Congressman Runyan has convened since taking office in January 2011.
